Aman Bhutani, the chief executive officer of GoDaddy, has adopted a policy of declining to review internal documents if he believes they were produced by artificial intelligence. Bhutani stated that the act of writing is a fundamental component of critical thinking, and he expects employees to synthesize their own original observations and hypotheses.

Bhutani noted that he identifies AI-generated content through specific indicators, such as prose that appears overly polished, excessive length, or a tone that feels artificially punchy. He explained his reasoning by stating that if an employee does not invest the time to write a document themselves, he does not consider it a productive use of his time to read it.

The CEO clarified that this approach does not constitute a total ban on AI tools within the company. He encourages staff to use technology for tasks such as defining unfamiliar terms, but he maintains that the communication of core ideas must remain a human-led process. He emphasized that AI is limited to existing internet data and cannot replicate the unique insights or ideas generated by individuals.

While Bhutani discourages the use of AI for internal reporting, the company continues to offer AI-based services to its customers. This includes the Airo tool, which is designed to assist small businesses with website construction and the automation of operational tasks.

These comments, which were reported in an interview with Business Insider in early November 2026, reflect a broader conversation among technology leaders regarding the role of writing in professional development.
