Christian Dior’s new holiday short film, "Christian Dior’s Night in Color," has become the subject of public debate following its release on Nov. 4, 2026. While the luxury fashion house marketed the animated project as a hand-drawn work, viewers and industry critics have pointed to visual inconsistencies that they suggest indicate the use of generative artificial intelligence.

The film, directed by French animator Sylvain Chomet, features a narrative inspired by the friendship between Monsieur Dior and actress Marlene Dietrich. The project includes a voice cast featuring Robert Pattinson, Rihanna, Louis Garrel, Camille Cottin, Josh O’Connor, LaKeith Stanfield, Greta Lee, Nine d’Urso, and Nadia Tereszkiewicz.

Critics have highlighted specific visual elements in the animation, such as warped lettering, unnatural movement, and anatomical errors, including a character appearing to have six fingers. These observations have led to questions regarding the production methods used to create the film.

The brand has positioned the campaign alongside a broader industry trend where luxury labels emphasize traditional craftsmanship and human labor in their holiday marketing.

As of Nov. 6, 2026, Dior has not issued a formal statement addressing the allegations regarding the use of artificial intelligence in the production pipeline.
