Marine Corps Maj. Scott Laux was removed from the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron on Nov. 3, according to the Chief of Naval Air Training. The command stated that the pilot, who served as the No. 6 opposing solo pilot, was dismissed for failing to uphold the standards expected of team members.

The removal resulted in the squadron flying with five jets instead of its standard six-aircraft formation during its season-ending homecoming air show at Naval Air Station Pensacola. The decision was publicly announced on Nov. 6.

Laux was in his second year with the demonstration team. The Navy has not specified the nature of the standards Laux failed to uphold, nor has it confirmed if the removal is linked to a formal disciplinary investigation.

The 2026 performance season has concluded. The Blue Angels are scheduled to remain on hiatus until March 2027, when the team is set to resume its flight demonstrations at the NAF El Centro Festival of Flight.
