Several mortgage and housing finance companies announced personnel changes and team expansions as of Nov. 6, 2026, marking a shift in leadership across the industry.

NEXA Lending appointed Susie Cheatham as its new national sales director. Cheatham previously served as a senior vice president and division manager at Radiant Mortgage and held leadership positions at Bay Equity. Mike Kortas, founder of NEXA Lending, stated that the firm is focused on building an organization for mortgage professionals to drive production at scale, noting that Cheatham has a proven track record in developing talent.

In addition to the leadership change at NEXA, New American Funding, Better, and Carter Bank reported additions to their respective mortgage teams.

The Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (MISMO) also announced a leadership appointment. Angel Romero, the housing finance agency relationship manager at Down Payment Resource, was named vice chair of the Technology Impact and Enablement (TIE) Community of Practice. Romero expressed that as the industry develops new technologies and standards, the focus must remain on making down payment programs more accessible through efficient processes.
