Carolyn Tisch Blodgett, a co-owner of the New York Giants, stated on Nov. 3, 2026, that the NFL must look beyond the United States to sustain its long-term expansion. Speaking at Business Insider's The Long Play event, she identified international outreach and flag football as the two primary pillars for the league's future development.

Tisch Blodgett, who also serves as the CEO and founder of the venture capital firm Next 3, noted that the domestic market has limitations for continued growth. She emphasized that the league cannot rely solely on its existing American fan base, stating that the profile of a sports fan in 2026 has evolved significantly compared to a century ago.

The NFL has increasingly focused on its global footprint, hosting nine international games during the 2026 season. Tisch Blodgett argued that this international expansion is a necessary step for the organization to reach new audiences.

In addition to global efforts, she highlighted flag football as a critical vehicle for growth. With the sport set to debut in the 2028 Olympics, it is viewed as an effective way to engage younger and more diverse demographics, including girls who may not participate in traditional tackle football.

Tisch Blodgett, whose family holds a 45% stake in the New York Giants, remains a strategic advisor to the team. Her remarks underscore a broader industry push to adapt to changing consumer habits and reach new markets worldwide.
