The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston has officially opened the application process for the 2027–29 term of its Core Residency Program. The initiative, hosted through the museum's Glassell School of Art, invites emerging artists and critical writers to apply for a two-year period of professional development.
The residency is scheduled to run from September 2027 through July 2029. Applicants interested in the program must submit their materials by the deadline of Jan. 8, 2027. The application process requires a fee of $12.00.
Established in 1982, the program aims to support participants in building a sustainable practice. Fellows are provided with private studio space and have access to the museum's collections, the MFAH Hirsch Library, and Rice University’s Fondren Library. The facility also offers fabrication studios for various disciplines, including sculpture, ceramics, photography, and painting.
The residency is intended for highly motivated individuals seeking to engage with curators, critics, and fellow artists. The program structure is designed to facilitate both research and the production of new work throughout the two-year term.
