The Whitney Museum of American Art announced on Nov. 6, 2026, that Meg Onli and Zack Winokur have been selected to co-curate the 83rd edition of the Whitney Biennial. The exhibition is scheduled to open in March 2028.
Meg Onli, who serves as the museum’s Nancy and Fred Poses Curator, previously co-curated the 2024 Whitney Biennial titled Even Better Than the Real Thing. She is also currently co-curating the exhibition Roy Lichtenstein: Like New, which is scheduled to remain on view through May 10, 2027.
Zack Winokur is a director, choreographer, and the co-founder of the American Modern Opera Company. He is also the former artistic director of Little Island. While he has an established background in opera, theater, and dance, this appointment marks his first time curating a major museum exhibition.
The announcement follows the conclusion of the 2026 Biennial, which closed two months prior to the selection of the new curators. Onli and Winokur will lead the development of the exhibition in the period leading up to the 2028 opening.
