A senior official from the United Arab Emirates expressed cautious optimism on Nov. 7 regarding ongoing nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran. The talks are currently being facilitated through mediation by Qatar.

Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, chairman of the Defense, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee of the UAE's Federal National Council, stated that there is evidence of progress in the diplomatic process. He noted that both sides could potentially reach a point where they begin to build trust and engage in a manner that avoids military conflict.

Despite the diplomatic efforts, Al Nuaimi emphasized that the threat of war remains a reality in the region. He stated that he does not exclude the possibility of military escalation, noting that the UAE continues to prepare for the worst while hoping for the best.

The region has faced significant security challenges throughout 2026, including multiple missile and drone attacks. Al Nuaimi affirmed that the UAE remains committed to ensuring it is prepared to address all potential threats as the international community monitors the status of the nuclear negotiations.
