A volunteer troupe known as the Golden Guild of Michigan is providing musical performances for residents in senior living communities. The group focuses on bringing entertainment to assisted living facilities, which serve more than 1 million Americans.

The members of the guild manage their own logistics, including the transport and setup of equipment such as chairs and microphones. During their visits, the performers present a variety of musical numbers to the residents.

John McPeak, an 82-year-old member of the group, participates by assisting with the technical preparations and performing solo musical acts. During a recent performance, McPeak sang "I got spurs that jingle, jangle, jingle" as part of the group's repertoire.

The performances have become a recurring event for some attendees. Judy Nelson, who has watched the group perform for approximately five years, noted that she has consistently enjoyed the shows.

The initiative was highlighted in an NPR report published on Nov. 5, 2026, as part of the network's "Here to Help" series. The performances typically conclude with the cast singing "Happy trails to you till we meet again."
