Perplexity released a new system called Teammates on Nov. 5, 2026, designed to function as persistent, always-on AI agents for professional environments. Unlike traditional AI tools that operate based on individual sessions, these agents are capable of monitoring ongoing projects, tracking deadlines and investigating issues.
The system is built upon the Perplexity Computer platform, which allows the agents to access a user's existing projects, skills and memory. Each agent operates within an isolated environment, utilizing its own desktop, browser and cookies to perform tasks. These agents can also collaborate with human coworkers and other AI systems through Slack.
CEO Aravind Srinivas stated that the company developed approximately 10,000 Teammates in the 30 days leading up to the launch. He noted that this volume represents 20 times the size of the company's human workforce, framing the technology as a transition from simple prompt-based interactions to high-level goal management.
The company has announced plans to release native mobile and desktop versions of the Teammates system in the near future.
