Airbnb announced plans to release an artificial intelligence agent designed specifically for travel planning during the first half of 2027. The company revealed the initiative in its Q3 2026 shareholder letter, which was published on Nov. 5, 2026.

Unlike standard chatbots that rely on text-based interactions, the upcoming tool will utilize what the company calls generative UI. This system is designed to assemble real-time, interactive interfaces by drawing from a library of hundreds of travel-specific components, including maps, photos, calendars, and itinerary builders.

CEO Brian Chesky stated that the company is developing its own agent because general-purpose AI tools are better suited for routine tasks, such as scheduling appointments, rather than the complex nature of travel. According to Chesky, the platform aims to support users with trip planning, booking, reservation changes, payment issues, and safety support.

The announcement coincided with the company's Q3 2026 financial report, which showed $4.87 billion in revenue, representing a 19% increase year-over-year. Chesky noted that the company is currently in a growth phase, marking its fastest revenue acceleration in more than three years.
