OpenAI hires former Anthropic product lead Cat Wu
Former Anthropic product leader Cat Wu moves to OpenAI to spearhead core product development.

Cat Wu, the former Head of Product for Claude Code and Cowork at Anthropic, has joined OpenAI to lead product management for its Core Products team. The company confirmed the appointment on Nov. 5, 2026.
Wu announced her departure from Anthropic on Nov. 3, 2026, noting that her final day at the company was Oct. 30. In a statement posted to social media, she expressed her intent to focus on building AI agents at OpenAI, adding that she looks forward to working with the product management team and executive Thibault Sottiaux.

Wu joined Anthropic in August 2024. Her transition to OpenAI follows the recent departures of Thariq Shihipar and Anthony Morris, who also worked on the Claude Code team. These staff changes occur as Anthropic prepares for an initial public offering expected later in November 2026.
