Disney employees in the company's streaming and technology divisions questioned management on Thursday regarding reports of a potential new round of layoffs. During an internal technology town hall meeting held on Nov. 5, 2026, staff members submitted written inquiries seeking clarity on the scope and timing of possible workforce reductions.

The meeting followed media reports suggesting that Disney is considering layoffs that could impact thousands of employees. According to these reports, managers have been tasked with identifying opportunities to achieve up to 20% in annual cost savings. Leadership did not provide specific details or timelines regarding potential cuts during the session.

Employees expressed frustration during the meeting, noting that they often learn of potential job changes through external news reports rather than internal company communications. One staffer questioned whether it would be more effective for management to communicate directly with employees regarding benefit changes and layoffs. Another employee asked specifically how these cost-cutting measures might affect the Media Platform Alliance.

The company has already conducted three rounds of job cuts throughout 2026, occurring in April, July, and September. Additionally, Disney offered voluntary early retirement packages to certain senior executives in August. Dana Walden, the company's president and chief creative officer, stated in October that there is a need to constantly evaluate the organization's structure.

Disney is scheduled to release its fourth-quarter earnings report on Nov. 17, 2026. Management remains under pressure as staff continue to seek transparency regarding the future of their roles within the organization.
