SpaceX faces a period of legislative and regulatory uncertainty following the Democratic Party's victory in the Nov. 3 midterm elections. The company has been actively working to expand into the mobile telecommunications market to compete with established providers such as Verizon and AT&T.
Following the election results, Democratic lawmakers are expected to utilize their committee majorities to increase oversight of Elon Musk’s business interests. Potential areas of inquiry include conflicts of interest regarding federal contracts, the company's access to sensitive data, and past reports concerning the throttling of Starlink internet access for the Ukrainian military.
Musk, who contributed over $450 million to support Republican candidates during the election cycle, acknowledged the outcome on X, stating that his efforts did not change the result.
