Nothing CEO Carl Pei announced that the company will release its first AI-native hardware product in December 2026. The device is intended to function as a productivity tool, though the company has not yet disclosed its specific name, pricing, or technical specifications.
In a statement regarding the upcoming launch, Pei confirmed that the device will not feature a screen. He emphasized that the hardware is designed as a standalone tool, noting that its functionality could not have been replicated through a mobile application.
The announcement follows a series of strategic moves by the company, which raised $200 million in a Series C funding round in September 2025. At that time, Nothing outlined plans to develop an AI operating system and hardware that addresses what Pei describes as a context gap, or the lack of information AI models have regarding a user's daily life.
Pei has publicly expressed skepticism toward the industry trend of searching for an iPhone-like breakthrough for artificial intelligence, such as pins or glasses. He stated that the company's focus remains on creating tools that provide immediate value to users, rather than pursuing what he characterized as a dead end.
