A single ticket sold in New Jersey matched all six numbers in the Wednesday night Powerball drawing, securing an estimated $847 million jackpot. The winning numbers were 15, 34, 41, 53, 56, and the red Powerball 21.

Lottery officials confirmed the win on Thursday, noting that the prize is the ninth-largest in the history of the game. The drawing concluded a streak of 35 consecutive sessions without a jackpot winner, a period that began following a $1.04 billion win in Illinois on Aug. 12, 2026.

The winner now faces a choice between an annuitized prize of $847 million, distributed in 30 increasing payments over 29 years, or a one-time cash option of $363.1 million. Both figures are calculated before the application of taxes.

Stephen Durrell, chair of the Powerball Product Group and executive director of the Kansas Lottery, noted the significance of the prize. He stated that back-to-back jackpot runs of this magnitude demonstrate the excitement surrounding the game and congratulated the ticket holder.

While the winning ticket was purchased in New Jersey, the specific retailer responsible for the sale has not been publicly identified, and the identity of the winner remains unknown. The jackpot will reset to $20 million for the next drawing, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026.
